Website is back!
Submitted by marineam on Sun, 09/23/2007 - 23:39.Greetings,
The OSLUG website is finally back after being down for over a month now. I took the lug web server down after discovering that the OSEL website was compromised. The attacker was able to execute code as the apache user and there was no indication that they got root access but that is a small possibility so I shut down the system to be safe. Unfortunately I have been quite busy this summer and did not have much time to work on rebuilding the server until this past week.
I took the opportunity to redo the site a bit. The main site is now based on Drupal and Gallery instead of the hacked up mashup of my custom site engine (flonc) + Wordpress + Gallery + lots of other random bits and pieces. In the process I found out that someone had successfully injected into our existing news posts in Wordpress. Hopefully the new site will be a bit more manageable so it will be easier to keep the site up-to-date with security fixes.
The wiki is still MediaWiki but the authentication system has been changed. The LDAP server I previously used to glue authentication for the parts of the site together is gone and has been replaced by OpenID. If you would like to reclaim your old wiki account please send me an email (marineam _at_ engr.orst.edu) with your old account name and your openid account and I will tie the two together. The wiki is currently lacking it's theme but I'll fix that sometime soonish.
Sorry for the long down time. If anyone would like to help maintain the site I would greatly appreciate it.
