Dead week has arrived, lets celebrate in style with some 0xdeadbeef (we'll have veggie too). While there will be food provided, it would be awesome if people wanted to chip in with side-dishes and/or cash.

It'll be a great time to take a break from studying!

Monthly Meeting: Val Henson, How to get paid to write open source

Valerie Henson will speak about how to write open source code and get paid for it, too. In the dreary post-dot com crash era, the conventional wisdom is that there are more qualified computer professionals job openings. In reality, the reverse is true in many areas of software development. Open source development is a fast-growing field; many Linux-related programming jobs go unfilled for 6 months or more for lack of qualified applicants. Val will talk about how to prepare for a job in open source, how to look for one, and what to do with the job once you have it.

  • Who: OSU Students
  • What: OSLUG MonthlyMeeting, Val Henson, How to get paid to write open source
  • When: First Wednesday of the Month at 7pm (5/3/2006)
  • Where: Dearborn 401
  • Why: Open souce is great, being paid is great, and women in engineering is the greatest.
