Monthly Meeting: Lightening Rounds

This month we're going to mix things up a bit. Instead of bringing people in to talk, us, the members, will be the speakers (if you want to).

This month will be 5min lightening rounds about a topic of your choice. You could discuss something cool you are working on, a neat technology you want to share, or just stand up in front of everyone and tell jokes. Talk about whatever you think is appropriate. We'll have a projector. Bring a laptop if you want to do something specific, otherwise you can probably borrow one.

Monthly Meeting, Trisha Weir from Google

Trisha Weir from Google will be joining us at our monthly meeting this Wednesday (March 1st). This is coming together very last minute, we are not even sure what she is talking about! Doing a little independent research (googling) we have found out that she works with Linux in Hardware Operations.

Monthly meeting, Pat Mochel

This week (02/01/06) Linux Kernel Developer Pat Mochel will be joining us to discuss how to ensure graduating college students have the skills to do open source work in industry.

Think of it as a more focused hacking social.

InstallFest 4

  • What: InstallFest 4
  • Who: Community members interested in learning and installing Linux.
  • Where: Dearborn 401
  • When: Saturday, January 28th, 1-5pm.
  • Why: This is a great place to bring your laptop or desktop and get help installing Linux or getting that last device working. Oh, and, to eat pizza of course.

As usual, we are going to need people to sign up as installers on the InstallFest4 wiki page.
